Suicide Prevention Coordinator, Montana DPHHS
Karl Rosston is the Suicide Prevention Coordinator for the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services. He provides evidenced-based programs to all Montana secondary schools, implements the State Suicide Prevention Plan, supports the Montana Suicide Prevention Lifeline, implements statewide media campaigns, provides suicide prevention trainings, and coordinates suicide prevention efforts around the state. Karl is a master level trainer in QPR and trains in suicide safe care for patients for many of the state’s universities and health care settings.

Previously, Karl was the Director of Social Services at Shodair Children’s Hospital in Helena. Before returning to Montana, he was on the faculty of the University of Colorado, School of Medicine, and a clinical consultant with the Colorado Division of Youth Corrections.

He is a licensed clinical social worker who maintains a small private practice in Helena. He received his Master’s in Social Work from the University of Denver and his Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Montana.

William M. Reiter, MD, FACP, has practiced Internal Medicine since 1980, initially in Ft Lauderdale, FL and at the University of Miami and, since 1998, in Anaconda, Montana.

He received his BA in 1976 from The John Hopkins University and his MD in 1980 from the Albany Medical College, Union University. He was elected a Fellow of the American College of Physicians in 1986.

Dr. Reiter has been a Principal Investigator or co-investigator for over 100 multi-center clinical trials of new therapeutics and has been author or co-author of over 30 peer-reviewed publications.

Since 2012 he has been focusing his primary attention on the development of best practices for the medication-assisted treatment of substance use disorders, towards which he developed the not-for-profit Odyssey Program as a separate clinical entity from his regular practice.

Kylie Erp recently graduated from the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work. She is a Texas native and moved to Montana in 2021 where she continued to expand her work in government and non-profit social work. She worked child protection services in the areas of Lubbock (TX), Houston (TX) and Montana as well as worked with the YWCA in family advocacy. Kylie recently is currently the Victim Service Specialist a newly established role within the Department of Justice’s Human Trafficking Unit . She has worked with survivors of Human Trafficking through her various roles over the years and hopes to continue building a well-connected community response to this widespread issue across the country.

Sara Hughes-Zabawa (LCSW) is proud to be a third-generation social worker, following in her Grandma and Mother's footsteps. As an LCSW and trauma-informed yoga instructor, Sara's career has focused on spiritual development and faith transition from high-demand faith communities, grief and loss, and holistic approaches to trauma treatment. She recently joined Walla Walla University as an adjunct clinical professor. Her clinical practice offers specialized care for clients healing from religious and spiritual trauma, couples in mixed-faith marriages, and supporting LGBTQIA2+ individuals and their families to foster acceptance, develop advocacy skills, and explore the relationship between their sexual and gender identity and their religious and spiritual beliefs. Sara received a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Michigan, emphasizing Interpersonal Practice: Mental Health and Interpersonal Practice: Communities and Social Systems. She also received a Graduate Certificate in Gender Studies from the University of Michigan. As a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator, Sara supports clients in living wholehearted lives while increasing shame resiliency skills and enhancing courage and authentic living. Sara is passionate about honoring the mental, emotional, and physiological impacts of trauma and providing clients and clinicians with the skills and resources to support integrative growth and healing. Sara loves living and raising her young family in Montana.

Dr. Horn received her Doctorate in Psychology, with a teaching emphasis, from Walden University. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and is licensed by the state of Montana as an Addiction Counselor. She also had accreditation from NAADAC as a Masters Level Addiction Counselor (MAC) and a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP). She is the incoming President-Elect for NAADAC. She currently works as the Chief Behavioral Health Officer for Rimrock Foundation, a CARF-Accredited co-occurring treatment facility that provides the full ASAM continuum of care in Billings, MT. She is responsible for ongoing training and education for clinical and support staff and supervises the mental health counseling team. She is passionate about changing systems to improve access to care and reduce the stigma that surrounds mental health and substance use disorders.

Andrea has a private practice and recently added state licensed substance use disorder facility to her practice. She has been providing services to families, couples and individuals in Montana since 2016. Her passion is working with couples struggling with addiction and managing the recovery process for individuals and their families. She is trained in Emotionally Focused therapy and Internal Family Systems. Utilizing these two models, Andrea has a unique approach to internal healing for anyone touched by the ravages of addiction.

Dr. Arzubi co-founded Frontier Psychiatry in 2019 to introduce an accelerated, more aggressive response to Montana’s growing mental health crisis. He served as Chair of Psychiatry at the Billings Clinic from 2014 to 2019, during which time he led the creation of Montana’s first psychiatry residency training program and the launch of Montana’s first EmPATH Unit, a service dedicated to providing timely care to individuals in crisis. In 2020, the Montana Medical Association presented Dr. Arzubi with one of its top physician awards, the Doctor Jack McMahon Service to Montana Physicians Award, for his contributions. Dr. Arzubi is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Yale Child Study Center. He has proudly served as President of the Big Sky Regional Council of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and as a board member of the School-Based Health Alliance. Dr. Arzubi is board certified in general psychiatry and child/adolescent psychiatry.

Sarah Jo Bernhardt, M.A., LCPC, brings 30 years of work in the helping field to her role as TGRC’s Lead Clinician. Sarah is a developmentalist at heart, appreciating working with people at all stages in life. With 15 years of practice as a mental health clinician, she also worked for 6 years in advocacy for women and children fleeing domestic violence, 3 years directing social services in long-term care, and 4 years directing intensive home visitation programming through public health. Sarah has held additional roles teaching as an adjunct professor in undergraduate psychology and human development courses, as well as consultation and mentoring for therapists learning about reflective practice. The breadth of Sarah’s career has been one of trauma-informed care with specializations in PTSD, EMDR, attachment related trauma, play therapy, child-parent psychotherapy, Circle of Security Parenting, and grief counseling. Sarah holds a Bacher of Science in Family Science and Human Development from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a Master’s Degree in Community Counseling from Chadron State College and is dually licensed as a Professional Counselor in Montana and Nebraska.

Tana Russell became Assistant Director at Evergreen Council on Problem Gambling in 2019 and Deputy Director in 2024. She holds certifications as a Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP), Washington State Certified Gambling Counselor II (WSCGC-II), Nationally Certified Tobacco Treatment Provider (NCTTP), Certified Gambling Disorder Trainer (CGT), and has completed specialized training and study on video/internet gaming disorder. She serves on NCPG committees, the Washington State Gambling Counselor Certification Committee, and several other workgroups and committees.

She presents on topics related to gambling, gaming, tobacco, addictions, treatment, recovery, and responsible gaming. She has written, co-authored and/or collaborated on the development of program curriculum for various treatment, training, and educational courses and trains gaming industry employees about responsible gaming policies and procedures.

Dr. Michelle Matzke earned her doctorate in psychology from Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky, after completing an APA-accredited internship in Canton, Ohio. She has over a decade of experience working with children, adolescents, and families, and is trained in SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions). Following her initial training, Dr. Michelle advanced her expertise in Cleveland, Ohio, where she specialized in assessing and treating Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and related conditions, including attention and impulsivity issues, anxiety, OCD, depression, behavioral challenges, and parenting struggles.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Michelle co-developed a children’s program at a hospital focused on depression, anxiety, and suicidality. She has a deep passion for program development and thrives on helping trainees grow in their clinical skills. Specializing in OCD, related conditions, and Autism Spectrum Disorder across all ages, she is dedicated to providing comprehensive support to those facing challenges, including treatment resistance, while nurturing the next generation of clinicians through training and supervision.

Dr. Michelle employs humor, compassion, and directness to guide her clients, trainees, and self through evidence-based strategies. She currently has a private practice in Powell, Wyoming; however, sees clients through telehealth in Montana, Wyoming, and is an approved PSYPACT provider.

Dr. Tina Barrett, LCPC, is the Executive Director / Co-founder of Tamarack Grief Resource Center. Barrett’s commitment to excellence in grief and trauma care is matched by her profound commitment to healthy organizations and setting teams up for success. Weaving stories from experiences as an Executive Director, Board Member, staff member, supervisor, supervisee, and volunteer, she focuses on strength-oriented care and healthy, effective workplaces. Dr. Barrett’s interactive workshops pull from experience in schools, hospitals, private practice, group homes, treatment centers, and nonprofits. She serves on the Leadership Team for Project Tomorrow Montana, the Presidents’ Circle for the National Alliance for Children’s Grief (NACG), and the Advisory Board for the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS). Barrett received the Community Educator Award from Association for Death Educators and Counselors (ADEC) in 2019.

Ginger Goes Ahead, M.Ed., LCPC, LAC, DEIS, EMDRPT-II; Binna'askeen' Chiwakiish (Prays on the banks of the water) Apsáalooke, is a Whistling Water Clan member living in Pryor, MT on the Crow Reservation. She is married, has two adult children and 7 grandchildren and enjoys spending time with her family.



Ginger experienced a life of trauma, addiction and abuse. When life knocked her down, she understood her personal responsibility to her family and future generations, to heal from her past. By doing so, she was able to see the purpose in the pain she endured, which now helps her guide others as a dealer of hope.

Ginger is a licensed school, mental health and addiction counselor, specializing in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and EMDR. She provides staff with a cultural sensitivity training called "Native American Approach to Healing, Trauma and Addiction" to create an environment understanding of alternative health approaches and empowering diverse and multicultural populations. In addition, Ginger serves on the Billings Crisis Intervention Team, collaborating with the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office and Billings Police Department on understanding cultural diversity within the Native American and Mexican populations dealing with mental health and substance abuse issues.



Ginger has worked with Rimrock Foundation for 2 years and is currently serving in the role of Outpatient Services Manager. In this role, she has had the opportunity to advocate for clients to engage to be provided a culturally appropriate treatment program and services, to assist the 28-30% Native American population, Rimrock serves throughout all behavioral health programs. She has worked with the Homeless Outreach Team, Mobile Crisis Response Unit, JAIL Based Pilot Project, Silverleaf Treatment Court Program, Outpatient and Mental Health Services departments and advocates for a culturally appropriate treatment program for all levels of care.

Ginger enjoys growing professionals and provides clinical supervision for ACLC (addiction counseling license candidates), PCLC (professional counseling licensed candidates), Integrated Support Services and Behavioral Health Peer Support Specialists. She has worked in the social service/counseling field for the past 23 years empowering Native communities, youth and their families. Ginger continues to see clients for mental health services and enjoys assisting them to heal from traumatic pasts, engage in a healthy recovery and reunite with loved ones.

Michelle is the founder of The Anxiety Break and brings nearly 15 years of experience as a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist. With a Master’s in Social Work and a diverse career that ranges from working in the Montana State Prison to private practice, she is deeply committed to evidence-based treatments that foster lasting change. Specializing in the treatment of Anxiety, OCD, and related disorders, Michelle is trained in the SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) program. Through SPACE, she empowers families to reduce accommodations that reinforce anxiety and dependency, especially when a loved one is resistant to or not benefiting from treatment. This approach helps both children and adults, including those facing Failure to Launch, transition toward independence by reducing enabling behaviors and fostering autonomy. By teaching families how to respond supportively—without reinforcing anxiety or dependence—Michelle equips clients with practical tools to manage symptoms, regain control, and build lasting emotional resilience. Her goal is to help individuals and families live with less fear and more freedom.

She loves to combine elements of yoga into her practice and take a spiritual approach to healing when clients are open to this resource. Zac Cannada is the Co-owner and Peer Support Service Lead of Beautiful Minds Recovery based in Missoula, MT. He is also an addiction counselor candidate at Beak Creek Wellness in Stevensville, MT. He has been working in behavioral health as a Certified Peer Support Specialist in Montana since 2020. In 2021 he became the First Nationally Certified Peer Specialist in Montana. In 2022 he received the Robin Johnson Peer Supporter of the year award. He is a Peer Support Training facilitator and mentor. He is a member of the Recovery Friendly Montana board. Current projects focus on implementing peer support response in Emergency departments and a Peer Recovery Support Line in Missoula.
